Import and export result of rubber products in Japan, 17% decrease for export and 8% decrease for import from January to June 2016

According to the export and import result of rubber products from January to June 2016 summarised by The Japan Rubber Manufactures Association (JRMA) based on the trade statistics by Ministry of Finance, total amount of export was 416,628,000,000 JPY, which was 16.6% lower in comparison with the same term of the previous year.

Although the total amount of some main products such as foot wears (2.0% increase), rubber clothes (22.4% increase), medical and sanitary products (1.4% increase) increased, some other products with high ratio such as automotive tyre tubes (20.0% decrease), rubber belts (13.6% decrease), rubber hoses (16.7% decrease) and gaskets (7.9% decrease) (all in the same comparison with the same term of the previous year) decreased. This decrease resulted in lower result in comparison with the same term of the previous year.

The export amount of June 2016 alone was 74,860,000,000 JPY, which was 20.6% lower than the same term of the previous year, and this resulted in a decrease of 11 months in a row. Some of the main products including foot wears, automotive tyre tubes, gaskets, rubber hoses and rubber belts were all decreased in comparison with the same month of the previous year.

On the other hand, the import amount of January to June 2016 was 202,349,000,000 JPY, and this was a decrease by 8.3% in comparison with the same term of the previous year.

As well as import, the total amount of foot wears was a increase by 11.3%, especially rubber-soled canvas shoes was in good shape with a increase by 25.2%. But most of other products such as automotive tyre tubes (18.1% decrease), rubber belts (34.5% decrease), rubber hoses (20.2% decrease) and gaskets (8.5% decrease) were below the result of the same term in the previous year.

Import amount was 33,345,000,000 JPY, which was 10.0% lower than the same month of the previous year, although the previous month recorded an increase. Foot wears were steady, but some other main products such as automotive tyre tubes (16.1% decrease), rubber belts, rubber hoses, gaskets were below the amount of the same month of the previous year.
